History
The origins of Champagne Henri Giraud go back to 1625 when the Hmart family settled in A. At the beginning of the 20th century Lon Giraud, a veteran of the Battle of the Marne, married a young lady Hmart. He rebuilt the familys magnificent vineyard that had just been devastated by phylloxera and First World War. Claude Giraud, 12th generation of the Giraud-Hmart family, today presides over the destiny of this Champagne House.
Regional Information
A in Champagne is famous for its chalk. The soil in the vineyards is only on average 20cm deep lying on top of 200 metres of chalk. The south-facing slopes produce lovely ripe grapes which is tempered by the cooling effext of the Marne river which snakes through the valley.
